September 2020 Reading Wrap-Up // Life Update

Hello friends! It’s October! Now, time for the existential crisis to set in because WOW. It’s October. Personally while I’m not huge on spooky season or pumpkin spice lattes, I’m looking forward to seeing where this month takes me.

But, before we move onto October it’s time to talk about September. September was both a very long month and also one that went by in a blink. I had a lot of personal growth and so many exciting bookish things. For example, I got to participate in some book tours, Instagram book birthday posts, and most excitingly…I got to participate in the cover reveal for What’s Not to Love by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka! It’s no secret that I adore this author duo and I was thrilled to be part of the cover reveal (you can find my post about it here).

So, onto the books. September was not my finest reading month. I’ve been extremely motivated to read but struggling to balance time for it along with everything else. I’m hoping to carry this motivation on through October and maybe (just maybe) be able to read more!

The Books I read in September 2020 were:

Vicious Spirits by Kat Cho

48929807

This sequel was incredible. I’ve been waiting very impatiently to read the sequel to Wicked Fox for months now and it lived up to the hype and more. I really enjoyed the plot and exploration of different characters. The writing was beautiful and I was fascinated by the mythology included. If you haven’t yet read this duology I’d highly highly recommend it. 5/5 stars

Recommended for You by Laura Silverman

Okay, so, this was super cute. Recommended for You read like young YA. It was very fluffy and the narrator made everything feel extra cheerful. The atmosphere was lovely (hello indie bookstore!) and overall it was just adorable. It has a little romance, a dash of character growth, and lots of diversity. 4/5 stars

Meme by Aaron Starmer

51554142

While I really wanted to love Meme, I had mixed feelings. I enjoyed the story for the most part. It was twisty and gripping. However, there were a few things that bothered me and I wasn’t impressed with the ending. It felt like it got wrapped up a little quickly and left my unsatisfied after being so intrigued during most of the story. 3/5 stars

Far From Normal by Becky Wallace

49247316

Becky Wallace has hit another home run (get it??). I’ve been looking forward to reading her sophomore novel and it didn’t disappoint! The story and romance were very cute. It was a perfectly light and quick read that would be fantastic if you’re looking for something to binge.

And just like that, it’s October! I’m crossing my fingers for a better month ahead.
